Unconditional Love

I always thought and hoped that I was capable of unconditional love.  Of course I vowed that I would love Blair unconditionally, and I meant every word of those vows, but I am also extremely blessed with a husband that really doesn't test that.  Today, I learned that I am capable of unconditional love...of our house.

There is an ever-growing pond in the basement and a new puddle in the kitchen with water dripping from the ceiling, yet I look around and I still love this house.  Despite the stray cats, the self-motivated garage door, foundation cracks, drain leaks, and indoor waterfalls, this is is our home we we love it anyway.  Of course, the one-year warranty helps.  Besides if it wasn't for this house, what would I blog about?

Note to self: be a little more specific when asking for rain next time.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend with all rain limited to the outdoors.

Cheers!

In Spite of Ourselves

You know those weekends where it seems like everything is happening at once?  You can go weeks without any major commitments and then all of the sudden, BAM! there are tons of things going on. This was one of those weekends, and it was wonderful! I had all sorts of friends in town this weekend from all sorts of different parts of my life - childhood, college, and post-college childhood, all in for differing reasons.

It took some sneaking out from work, and a grocery store rendezvous, but I was fortunate enough to catch up with all of them- even if for a brief few minutes.  Not that my earlier life was really all that reckless or anything, but I will say that I took advantage of my youth and my former ability to process strange cocktails. But in spite of the frat parties, jungle juice (of course that trashcan was clean), happy hours every night of the week, and chasing stupid boys, we all turned out just pretty well in spite of ourselves.

So my dear ladies, cheers to who we used to be, who we managed to become, and to be being totally nuts again when we were old!  I've already started shopping for my moo moo dresses and big hats!

Happier Monday

It's Monday evening...sigh.  Monday's are never the best day of the week, and I usually come home a little grumpy.  So I thought I would post a little something sure to brighten your day.  These are first birthday pictures of my nephew, Connor (actually my nephew), my niece, Ella Grace (yes- I am claiming her).  Have a happier Monday!

"That was awesome!"

Now that don't make a D@#n bit of sense!

When I think about my husband, friends and family, the things I love most about them are their quirks. I love the things about them that don't make any sense at all.  I like knowing the idiosyncrasies of people- they are what make us unique and fun.  I thought it would be fun to run a little "feature" blog on what you or your loved ones do that don't make any sense at all!  For example- I try very hard to eat organic foods, and to limit the number of chemicals in my diet- yet, I'm drinking a diet coke as I write this...  Hmm...

I am asking you to send me the little things about you and yours that don't make any darn sense at all!  I promise to keep your identities secret :)

Cheers!

Dancing on the Table

I love this picture of Betty Ford dancing on the table (thank you fordlibrary.org).  I see this picture and I see my Nana, Sissy, Mom, Mama H, sisters-in-law, best friends. I see Mrs. Ford's bravery, humor, and her wit.  I also see a little bit of who I try to be in this photo.  What a great lady and what amazing things she did for this country and for the good of humanity as a whole.

LA Trip!

Weee'rrreeee baaaaccckkk!  I had a WONDERFUL time in Los Angeles, CA with my mom this past weekend!  These two VA ladies jumped off the plane on Thursday afternoon and hit the ground running!  Day one included a fabulous meal at the Pink Taco (yes really) and an afternoon spent hitting the hard streets of LA- Rodeo Drive, followed by pre-dinner drinks at L’Ermitage.  Dustin is a friend of Blair’s brother Kyle, but after that sweetie spent 30 minutes chatting and taking pics with my mom and me, he is officially my friend too.  Dustin is the front desk manager of this seriously fabulous hotel.  If you are in LA and have a lot more money than I do, you should definitely stay there.

Friday was highlighted by a tour of the “Homes of the Stars.”  We knew what we were getting into, and even asked our hotel concierge to book a “cheesy” tour for us.  He delivered!  Here is one of the spectacular shots of the incredible homes….

Mom and I had dinner at Spago later that evening and then headed back to the hotel for our nightly bottle of wine. If you are wondering if Spago is really that good, the answer is YES!!!

Our final day was spent touring beautiful Santa Monica and the complete freak show that is Venice Beach.  Mom flexed her muscles at Muscle Beach and we headed out to 3rd Street Promenade.  It was the perfect ending to a perfect girl’s trip!
I seriously need to figure out how to rotate pictures in Blogger...
