Baking from Scratch

iheartdaily.com

It’s a well-shared opinion that any recipe made with wholesome, pure, and sometimes higher-fat ingredients yields a much better result than anything made with low-cal, reduced fat, or chemical substitutes.
Just as this applies to a typical loaf of bread, the same is true for the two little honey buns I’m baking right now…from scratch! So yes, I have traded in my 6-9 mile morning runs for long walks and I have changed my eating habits to include more food, sometimes with more fat.  Sometimes I eat larger meals, and sometimes I eat little meals with lots of snacks mixed in, and sometimes I even throw a little sugar into the mix (gasp!).  Yes, I am actually trying to gain (more) weight (gasp again!).
So on behalf of all pregnant women in the world, unless you are our doctor, a close friend or relative (*note: level of closeness to be determined solely by the pregnant woman), please keep all comments on the quantity and/or quality of our meals to yourself.  In turn, we will let you get away with that unprovoked public rubbing of our lower abdomen.
And with that little rant out of the way, I am going to have a snack while I think about dinner.

18 Week Bump

18 weeks (tomorrow).  Hard to believe!  Here is the bump, which is starting to make an appearance.  As for the wine wall, we'll add that to the list of things that make our house completely unsuitable for babies, but at least it looks good with our white couches and antique end tables...

Say What?!?!

Now that we are out of the baby closet so to speak, we have received all sorts of hilarious reactions to the news that we are having twins.  We have received tons of "Congratulations" and the like, but a few reactions have been too funny not to note.  I should point out that Blair and I find all of this really funny, and take no offense whatsoever.

My former boss: "Ouch!"

Me to my coworkers: "As you may have guessed, Blair and I are expecting..."
My coworkers (collectively): "Awww, yay"
Me:....twins.
My coworkers: "Ooohhhh"

An anonymous friend "Oh, I'm so sorry!! I mean, I'm sorry for saying that....I mean congratulations."

Mike: "You always were an overachiever."

My Mom: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH" gasp for air "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH"

Blair's Dad: "Has anyone picked Blair up off the floor?" (my personal favorite)

Omie: "I know."
